Patient Care
New Patients

Our practice is focused on prevention and health. We believe that excellence in dentistry begins with a detailed evaluation of our patient. At your first visit to our practice you will have a Comprehensive Oral Evaluation by Dr. Clancy, Dr. Doe, or Dr. Hoerz. This is the first step in determining your individual and personal dental needs.

This careful diagnosis and treatment planning session will include:

• Review of your medical and dental history
• Oral evaluation
• Periodontal (gums) evaluation
• Examination of current fillings and dental appliances
• Oral cancer screening
• Guided tour of your mouth with an intra-oral digital camera
• Only necessary digital radiographs (x-rays), and photographs

All findings will be discussed with you at this visit and a baseline of your oral health will be established. We recognize that no two patients are alike and that your treatment plan should reflect your wants and needs. Different options will be discussed and through co-diagnosis, your personal treatment plan will be established. We encourage our patients to actively participate in the treatment planning process so that everyone may achieve their own desired level of dental health.

We can assure you that your Comprehensive Oral Evaluation will be much more detailed than a “quick check”. Many of our patients report that their new patient visit was the most thorough dental appointment they have ever experienced!

Services

We are a general family practice providing cosmetic, preventive, and restorative dental care to patients of all ages. We offer a full range of dental services to meet the needs of you and your family. Our specialty is making our patients smile. Here are a few ways we make that happen:

• White colored fillings and bonding
• Crowns, inlays, onlays, and veneers
• Implants and implant crowns
• Tooth whitening
• Removable partial dentures and dentures
• Sealants
• Root canal therapy
• Extractions

Our office stays up-to-date with all OSHA, CDC, and ADA infection control procedures, and we work hard to make sure our patients feel at ease during treatments and confident in the care they’re receiving. We are dedicated to improving your smile and giving you long-lasting dental health.

Digital X-ray technology provides an instant diagnostic image displayed on a computer screen allowing our patients to see their dental condition for themselves. Digital X-rays reduce a patient’s exposure to radiation by over 80% when compared to a traditional dental X-ray. This method of diagnosis is also better for the environment since chemicals are not used in digital imagining. It’s a wonderful tool for helping patients fully understand their treatment options.

The DIAGNOdent laser is a simple, fast, and comfortable way to check a patient’s teeth for dental decay. Cavities can hide in the little pits and grooves and traditionally were only found mechanically with the dental explorer. But this method of cavity detection is not accurate enough, which is why our practice invested in the DIAGNOdent technology.

Proven to be over 90% accurate, the DIAGNOdent allows us to detect cavities in the earliest stage when treatment will be most conservative. The necessary fillings are typically smaller and preserve more of the tooth structure when decay is found early. This type of treatment is consistent with our philosophy of minimally invasive dentistry.

Have you ever wondered what that cracked tooth looks like? Or how your dentist can see a cavity that doesn’t even hurt you? With a simple photograph patients are able to see a sharp, clear image on our computer screen. Intraoral cameras help connect patients to their dental health and allow us to explain your dental condition and diagnosis.

Financial and Insurance

Major credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover are accepted in our office. The fees for our dental services are the same for every patient, whether or not insurance is involved. For patients without dental insurance, the fee for our services is due at the time of treatment.

We are a preferred provider for some plans of Delta Dental and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, however we do accept most insurance plans. All deductibles and co-payments are due at the time of service. As a courtesy to our patients we will submit claims to insurance companies. Patients are responsible for all fees that insurance does not cover.

Some insurance companies may base their allowances on a fee schedule that may not coincide with our office fees. We encourage our patients to educate themselves on the guidelines of their own insurance plan, as the relationship is between you and your insurance company. Dental insurance will pay a portion of your investment and we urge you to be aware of the provisions and limitations of your particular plan.

We will always make treatment recommendations based on what is best for your health and will work closely with you so that you may receive the maximum financial benefit from your insurance company.

CareCredit is a health care financing option that we offer to our patients. Many CareCredit plans are interest free and allow you to attain your health care needs in a timely manner. You can apply for it in the privacy of you own home or in our office if you would like assistance. Visit www.CareCredit.com for more information.

When you make a dental appointment your dentist or hygienist has reserved time exclusively for you. To avoid a cancellation fee, we ask for 24 hours notice if you need to reschedule.
